I created a category called “Privacy” under “Internet” not knowing that I would have some really stupid thing to say. My google and yahoo accounts got hijacked early today. I was logged on to gmail when all this happened - I could do nothing as I saw everything go away ![]()
Contacted google and yahoo, lets see how fast they react and will they help me at all - they say a lot about privacy, now would they keep up what they say?

There are lots of ways this could have happened that don’t involve Yahoo or Google. I will assume your password isn’t “password” or “test”
1) Do you use the same password for those accounts? If the hacker gets one account, the other is practically automatic.
2) More importantly, do you use that password on any other service? If you do, you are opening yourself up to exposure. As one example, I routinely see login names and passwords transmitted in cleartext in referring URLs in my Apache web logs. Sad, but true.
3) Are you operating over a wireless network? Is it encrypted/secure?
There are other avenues as well - these are just the easy ones. Sorry to hear about your troubles.
Cheers.
